I have a GE Spacemaker Laundry, my drainage or spin doesn't work. What could the problem be?

yes it will wash fine. No it isn't a belt. It is a direct drive transmission. have someone check the lid switch. If the lid is open or the switch is broken then the machine can't drain or go into spin.
