PLEASE help me...I'm so confused about this guy!?

Okay, so, on Friday, my ex bf and I were talking and then all the sudden he licks his pen and sticks it at my mouth and then licks it again and starts to try to shove it in my face. While he did that he was like, "This is my way of saying goodbye...and hello" Then as I walked out of the building he yelled, "Claire I love you!" What does this mean? What is going on with him? He didn't say it rudely, but his friends were right next to him. I'm really confused. He's known to act like a jerk at times and I really want to know what this means.
