Christmas / holidays in Paris - good idea?

Yes, Paris is wonderful at any time of year and it will be less crowded than in the Spring. France is a very family orientated country so it will be more restrained than in some other countries but the churches, shops and streets will be beautifully lit and decorated. Hopefully you have local friends who will ask you to join them in their celebrations.
